One of the latest crazes out today is coloring for adults. You wouldn’t believe how calm and unstressed I feel after I’ve made the time to sit, bring out the colored pencils and choose a pattern from the coloring books I own. Even if it’s only 20 minutes of coloring, the act of choosing the colors to use and envisioning where each color will go, is relaxing and takes any anxiety I was feeling and ushers it out the door.
There’s even a few apps out there where you can color on your phone or tablet. While I don’t think this is as relaxing as pencil and paper (the real thing!) it might help you grab a few moments of Zen, if it’s on your phone. Make use of waiting at the doctor’s office or in a long line at the DMV.
Either old school or digital, taking a few moments to ground yourself and focus on something creative, like coloring, can be helpful. Try it – you might like it!
